Which security package works best with Dragon Professional individual?

I have been a user of dragon naturally speaking for around 10 years and I always upgrade when the new version comes out. I have noticed that over the years Dragon has become tempermental on my computer over the years. Most of the time it works, but there are times when it just hangs up for 15 to 30 seconds until it actually responds to my commands. There are other times when it doesn't come back and i have to go to the windows task list to end the program and restart Dragon. If i am just doing straight dictation into the dragon pad, I do not run into any problems. my problems occur when i use a web browser and get to Facebook and also a website that uses flash video.

lately i was wondering if my problems related to my Norton Security. 

My computer configuration is :

HP Pavilion Elite HPE-257C

I7 860 2.6 GHz (first gen) , 8Gb ram , 500Gb SSD Main Drive

Windows 10 64 Bit (up to date)

SpeechWare USB 3 in 1 TableMike (set for close range)

It is bundled software like "Common Update Manager" that causes me to rethink whether I really want a relationship with said vendor.

If you are a Dragon user, and would prefer not to have software like this forced onto your system as a condition of using Dragon, please voice your thoughts here.

 

We should let Nuance know, if we don't like this junk!

An email, a message-box at Dragon startup or a check for updates command in the application are enough!

 

Nuance please take this out!

I ordered Dragon NaturallySpeaking Premium with my laptop, and downloaded and installed it on the same laptop. The laptop is still using Windows 8.1 (have not been upgraded to Windows 10). So far everything is working as expected.

I have desktop computers at home and at work. Both of these are using Windows 7 (albeit different versions).

(1) Can I use a copy of the download to install on the desktop computers? or

(2) Do I have to download from scratch for the desktops? and

(3) Do I have to download separately for the two different versions of Windows 7?

I ask, because bandwidth is not as freely available in South Africa as in many developed countries.

Just purchased Dragon Naturally Speaking 13 however I am considering the upgrade of the whole computer. Does anyone know whether Dragon works with Office 2016 release?

Whenever I want to load a profile I am asked to enter a username and a password so that I can log in.

This is driving me absolutely mad as I cannot establish what username or password I mean to use. I have exhausted every username and password combination I have ever used, but no luck.

I am using: Dragon professional personal 14, Windows 10.

I think this problem started when I tried loading Dragon anywhere.

How do I locate the username/password?

I had Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.5 Home installed, and upgraded it to Dragon NaturallySpeaking 13 tonight. The install went well until it reached the 'Optimizing vocabularies' part near the end. It has been on that specific part for 2 1/2 hours. The dgnsetup.log hasn't reported any new entries since it reached this step, and neither has the Windows Event Logs.

Anyone have any ideas? Should it take this long to optimize the vocabularies at the end of the install? I have a previous profile, but really didn't use Dragon that much before - only when I had hurt my right hand and couldn't type well, so I can't imagine my vocabularies are unusually large.

Regardless of the amount of attempts Nuance Tech Support has tried DNS 13 will not install correctly on my computer.  It is frustrating since I have used ver 11 for years and they just cannot figure out why other than to say it just is not compatable with all Windows 7 systems.  They had to refund me my costs since they agreed they just cannot fix the issue.


After any dictation, "Please say that again."

Upon any dictation, screen shows "Please say that again".  Read Kennedy's speech, profile say OK.  But cannot do any dictation.

Again, let me say this *** NUANCE HAS THEE WORST SUPPORT OF ALL TIME*** not only did they outsource their support but they also for over a year have failed to give any legit response regarding why the "check for updates" for version 11 does not work. I've seen people posting on these forums for over a year about this issue, with Nuance telling folks that the update server is down, or that DNS v11 is no longer supported and that upgrading to 12.5 is the only option - what a scam. If there is ever a company that provides a DNS service outside of Nuance then I'll be sure everyone I know switches over... Until Nuance can actually prove they have good support (or any for that matter), I'll not be interested in anymore of their products. This is terrible support - there should at least be someone monitoring the forum boards...

First let me explain that I am completely new and unfamiliar with Dragon NaturallySpeaking.  So, sorry in advance, if this is perfectly obvious, and I have missed it.

I am currently using Firefox 43, because anything later breaks websites I visit frequently.

I am currently pre-purchase, and trying to decide which product to get.

I see problems with DNS 12 and Firefox appear frequently in the forums.  Every post I saw looks like they were using a much older Firefox than I am. 

I went on youtube and watched some tutorials.  It looks to me like with versions of DNS that support Firefox, you say "Search the Web" followed by what you are looking for.  When you do, DNS uses your default search engine.  If you say something like search wikipedia for something, it does a domain search using your default search engine.

I would rather say some command to tell DNS to put a string in the Firefox search box and use a specific engine in the list.

If I need a version of DNS that does not have the pre-configured support for Firefox, but does have support for macros like 9 or 10 Pro instead fo 12 or 13, I would like to know that.  Please help.

P.S.  If I would need to write some kind of extension for Firefox using the DNS SDK, would the built-in firefox features of some versions intefere with that? 

 

Problem with user-defined command and clipboard in Outlook

Hi,

I am using Dragon professional for individuals and I am having the following minor annoyance. I defined a command (containing text-only) for use in Outlook. Sometimes, if the clipboard contains any text or graphics, and I enter the command in Outlook, the program pastes the contents of the clipboard instead of pasting the text specified by the command.

Any suggestions?

Hi Folks

I'm using DNS Pro Individual on Windows 10 Pro PV Build 11082.

Recently Dragon wouldn't start, an error message would pop up saying it was "having trouble starting..."

I uninstalled it, removing all user profiles and reinstalled but now I can see Dragon processes in Task Manager but no DragonBar.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

there any way to get custom text for me to read while i train it... i want to put something i enjoy reading into the program more, sense i have had to train it for multipul microphones when i upgraded and when i had to use a spare when one broke. 

anyway to add custom things to read?

Hello, I ask for your assistance.   I just received a new error code that I cannot seem to cure...."COM Returned an unexpected error code: Details are RPC_E_SYS_CALL_FAILED".

I am operating on a windows 7 platform with a dell 4bit i5 chip computer.  I am not a techie, so forgive me, simplicity is important.  Thank you in advance!

Deleting from Vocab list in Dragon 13

Hi,

 

I was wondering if anyone else has had any problems deleting terms from their vocab. I am using Dragon 13 Premium on Windows 7 and when I try to delete certain terms I get the error "One or more of your chosen words cannot be deleted".

 

Any help would be appreciated.

WordPerfect plug in has developed a glitch

I have been using WordPerfect X7 with Dragon 13 very successfully for about seven or eight months. It has worked perfectly. I am the world's worst typist and this combination has been absolutely magic for me.

Unfortunately in the last week or so the WordPerfect plug-in seems to have developed a glitch. After dictating a phrase the cursor moves backward so it rests just before the last character in the phrase; when the next phrase is dictated that previous last character is moved forward to the end of the second phrase. This is very frustrating. This phenomenon does not happen with any program other than WordPerfect, indeed I am dictating this post with Dragon 13 in the Dictation Box and it has not made a single mistake.

How do I reset the WordPerfect plug-in for Dragon 13 or how can I download the plug-in again, or how do I get round this problem?

When I am dictating in Dragon 12.50, I cannot use the word "correct."  When I try to dictate "orthopraxis (correct action)," and "orthodoxy (correct belief)," Dragon does not type "correct" but tries to find an occurrence of the word:"action'" or "belief" in order to correct it.  I have been able to insert the word "correct" only by going into spell mode.  Any suggestions?

Hi,

I've just bought the premium version of dragon13 (99 €, I had payed 39 € dragon12!) on windows 10 and I have many problems with firefox, thunderbird, notepad ++, etc...

Before, with the version 12.5, all the softwares worked properly.
