Add remote mic to existing profile (7 Comments)

I'm using DNS 12 on a PC. Recently got an iPhone and would like to use it as remote mic, but all of the options for setting this up don't seem to work.

1) Bonjour is up and running, but my computer and iPhone don't recongize each other automatically when on the same wifi network (and yes, DNS is running on the PC). 

2) Entering settings manually doesn't work (and yes, I have checked that these settings are correct).

3) I have no idea where to find the barcode! All of the Nuance docs say I should click "Profile" and there will be a menu option that reads "Add new dictation source" -- but my "Profile" menu has NOTHING about how to add a dictation source!

Any suggestions?!


How long does the right to re-install last with Dragon?

Bought a new ASUS laptop and find I cannot re-install on it.  Purchased Dragon 13 on Sept. 10, 2015.  Now I do not have an account that I can log into other than this one.  Has my "license" expired?  Somewhat disappointed in this.

Just bought DNS 13. I have a usb-pre 2.0 which converts an analog signal into digital.

When I create a new user, my usb-pre shows up in the "Choose an Audio device" choices.

I select it, click next.

It displays the message "There is a problem with the microphone. Please check that it is plugged in."

I know that the device is working because it will come up fine in Adobe Audition.

DNS has a very restrictive interface that makes you jump through the hoops of training a mic. So here I sit. 

Any Ideas?

Nuance duplicates paragraphs in Facebook

I am having an issue when dictating longer posts in Facebook, for example. Usually after dictating for an extended period, I will discover multiple copies of my paragraphs being duplicated multiple times below where I typing. When I try to delete the duplicated material, the original paragraph disappears as well.

I have successfully been using my Blue Yeti microphone with Naturally Speaking 10.1 Professional on an IBM ThinkPad running Vista 32 for over five years.  After a couple of hard shutdowns the blue yeti no longer works in Dragon, but works perfectly well in windows speech recognition, and I can easily record in sound recorder.  Every time I try to create a new user in naturallyspeaking (or adjust the volume for an old user) the program cannot hear me on the microphone.

I've tried all combinations of settings in the sound profiles in the control panel, but nothing works.  I also completely uninstalled naturallyspeaking 10.1, including old user profiles, and reinstalled, to no avail. My Andrea Superbeam is also not detected as a microphone jack device, or with the external USB soundcard.

I ran across a document which said that for successful installation of the program on a laptop with a biometric fingerprint scanner that the scanner needs to be enabled.  Mine was disabled, and I enabled it in device manager, but it has no driver or software installed yet.

I have installed dragon premium 11.5 on 5 computers and one of them died (hardware failure), I will replace the damaged computers with a new one, but I have a few questions about this:

1. I didnt get the chance to uninstall dragon on the damaged PC, so I guess its license slot is still occupied, correct? (among the 5 license slots)

2. So if I install dragon on a replacement PC, how can I activate it? Will Nuance treat it as the SIXTH computer and stop me from activating it? (machine fingerprint is different)

3. Will formatting my hard drive and re-installing dragon change my machine fingerprint?


The reason I installed dragon on 5 computers is because I'm researching dragon on different hardware setup for my report, I am the only user (more like tester).

I have just installed and trained Dragron NaturallySpeaking 12.5 on Windows 8.

The next time I tried to start Dragon I got this error:

     Cannot access user profile

     'C:\ProgramData\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking12\Users\Terry Clancy'.  which is

      locked by another Windows login session

Now I cannot use Dragon.

 

Are you able to help me overcome this problem please ?

I recently had a hard drive failure and had to replace it so I re-installed DNS 12.0 from scratch. When I open DNS, it asks me to do the microphone test; that works fine and I can then start using it but if I close DNS I cannot re-open it. I have to restart my PC and then go through the whole microphone test again. Every time. Any ideas anyone, please?

Tried to use Nat Speaking 12.5 with Windows 10.

It won't work.

I get the Training Dialog and it seems to recognize sound but never goes any farther.

Tech Support said that Naturally Speaking wouldn't work with Windows 10.

I've been a Dragon user from Dragon Dictate 2.0.

Giving Windows 10 speech recognition a try.

DON'T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT COMPUTING TO KNOW HOW TO HANDLE MY PROBLEM EITHER OR HOW TO OPEN A THREAD ETC.  all I know is I have Dragon premium 13 and Excel 2013 and cannot get my Dragon to work within Excel. This is so frustrating for me because Dragon is a necessity not a luxury. And I have spent far too much money to be going through this problem. When I tried to dictate in Excel, I get an error message: "Dictation is not possible or is corrupted for the current window due to the current Dragon add in for 'MS Excel' not being loaded." I then tried to apply a fix for this error message using Dragon help. Resulting in running the following command:

 regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\x86)\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking13\Program\dgnexcel.dll".  When I completed this I received the following additional error message:

The module “C:\Program Files (see x86)\Nuance\Naturally Speaking 13\Pr…\dgnexcel.dll” was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005.

If someone could please help me I would greatly appreciate it… Lost in Ohio.

I am trying to download Dragon Professional Individual, having paid for the product, and cannot download the product from the link provided in the "Product Now Available" email. All I get is an HTTP 403 Forbidden message. Same when I try to download from the Nuance site. Over a hundred dollars and no product. Now what?

Nuance notified me today that Dragon Professional Individual 15 is available for download; but after downloading I repeatedly got the message that the file could not be opened.  Now I get the message that I have exceeded the maximum number of download attempts permitted!  It is unclear how to find anyone to correct this problem.

I bought Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 some years ago. Before making my purchase, I telephoned the company. I asked company, if the software had the ability 'read back' what I had written in Microsoft Word. I have a lot of trouble with my English and grammar. So I wanted a piece of software to read back, everything I had written, so I could correct any grammar errors in my English. 

However, when I installed Dragon Naturally Speaking it did not have the 'read back' feature.  

I was going to complain to Nuance, as I was wrongly advised by Nuance. I bought the software in good faith on the advice of a Nuance staff. 

Before, I could deal with this complaint, I had a major hard disk crash and lost the original installation. For some reason, Nuance limit the number of installs. So I lost the opportunity to officially, un-install the software. So I could not re-sell the software and re-coup some of my money. 

I don't know if Nuance will do anything for me, as this happened a few years ago, but I just have the software gathering dust.

I also don't know if newer version of this software have the 'read back' facility or may be I should buy a different product for my needs. 

 

Dragon 13 blanks screen in gMail on Chrome, Windows 10 (2 Comments)

I have a windows 10 machine running gmail in chrome.  If I start Dragon 12 and then open gmail using chrome the email screen is a solid black.  I got the latest extension from the google store with no success.

If I open gmail with chrome and then open Dragon it works fine.  It is a real pain for my user to keep closing dragon to open his email.

How to change the default location of DragonPad when it opens.

I would like for Dragon pad to open in the same location as I last used it. It always opens in the middle of the screen and I have to drag it to the screen location that I like. Is there a setting in options.ini to tell dragon where to open the box? I am using Dragon Medical Practice version 2 (12.53...). Any help would be welcome.

Just upgraded from Dragon 14 to 15 and it is not working with my court reporting software Eclipse. I have contacted Eclipse and they said it is an issue with Dragon. Can we get a fix ASAP?

I have attempted several times to install Dragon Premium 13 on my Windows 7 laptop. Every time the installation stops and gives me a message that the installation has been interrupted. I have shut down all anti-virus and firewall software and this is not a Windows 7 install over an old system. I also do not have a previous version of DNS on my computer as I uninstalled DNS 9 ages ago. I'd be better off getting my money back and typing everything. It would take me less time than attempting to install this program.

I see a number of other comments regarding various incompatibilities with Chrome; I think my Dragon 13 Home has begun causing the dreaded Black Screen of Death on Chrome. Win 10, latest version of Chrome. If I merely open Dragon, then open Chrome, Chrome consistently shows the black screen. Close Dragon, close Chrome, and Chrome opens normally. What to do, besides going over to Firefox?

Version 15 stalled on installation for over an hour

As I was posting this, the install actually finished.  Thank you.

 

I purchased and downloaded version 15 today.  The installation was going smoothly but now, after an hour, it is stalled on "copying new files".  It already copied some files and moved to a new screen, still supposedly copying files, but it is not moving. 

Any help would be appreciated.  I have Win 7, plenty of memory and disc space.  I also have version 13 installed in case that could be causing a problem.

I just bought Dragon Home Edition 12 and am in the process of setting up my profile.  I'm at the "Read Training Text" window.  When I press "Go", it notifies me that I need to turn the Dragon Remote Microphone on by pressing the button, as the button is showing red.  I understand that the red button means it's turned off, but when I press it to turn the microphone on, it tells me "User profile is not ready for dictation" and won't turn on.  I know the microphone and headphones are operational because my computer is reading both of them when I go to the Control Panel.  Nothing in the directions is giving me help as to what I may be doing wrong or how to proceed.  Any troubleshooting answers I find touch around my problem, but nothing directly related to what's happening here.  Can anyone help?  What have I missed?
