Dragon NaturallySpeaking worked fine yesterday, but won’t open today. When I open it, I get this message:

“Dragon has encountered an error and may become unstable. Please save your work, close NaturallySpeaking by choosing Profile-> Close DragonBar and Restart NaturallySpeaking.

SDAPI Error 1: Error: [s:\mrec18\12965\src\fileutil\realdf.cpp 3048 fileutil\realdf 1] SDApi_GetFileSupportType: C:\ProgramData\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking11\Users\John\current\General_\general.voc”

When I go to Profile, the option I have is NOT “Close DragonBar”. It is “Exit Dragon”. Regardless of how I exit Dragon, I get the same message every time I start Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I tried rebooting my computer and got the same results. I have Dragon Premium version 11.

Can Anyone Suggest a Good Multipurpose USB Headset for Windows 7?

Good People,

For the longest time I have had much success using the  Gigaware USB headset with microphone with my Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium software on my Windows 7 laptop. Unfortunately, I need to replace my headset, but they are currently out of stock at Amazon – with no estimate as to when they might be available again.

The reason I liked this model so much was that it worked with ALL my sound applications – not just Dragon. That is essential for me, because I use Skype as a "virtual cell phone", watch both DVD movies as well as movies on subscription services such as Netflix and iTunes and Amazon, listen to music on Spotify, etc. Obviously complete and seamless interoperability is critical to me. Nuance's headset offering is not acceptable because I prefer two earpieces for obvious reasons, and do not know if they are designed exclusively to work with Dragon.

Through trial and error and expenditure of funds, I have learned that stereo headsets – even from Gigaware – and gaming headsets do not work. They provide fabulous sound in other applications, but they are incapable of responding to anything except Dragon-specific commands and basic menu commands; they do not accept dictation in my experience. In a couple of windows 10 posts, I read good things about a couple of Logictech devises, but again I use Windows 7.

Can anyone recommend from their experience a good USB headset that works very well in Dragon AND other audio applications? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks very much in advance!

change license key without reinstalling

I'm curious to know if it's possible to change the license key in Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional 13 without reinstalling? I'd like to change the user from a standalone license to the volume license that we just purchased. Thank you.

nuance dragon 14 microphone is greyed out and will not work (1 Comment)

Recently, my Dragon 14 professional has stopped working.  When it was installed, it worked properly, however now, when it starts up, the icon in the tray appears, however it no longer works to turn on the microphone.  When I right-click it, the "Turn Dragon's Microphone On" option is greyed out.

I am using a blue-tooth headset that is connected, it is the same one I have been using and never had a problem with it before.  I have tried it with Skype, and it works perfectly.

I am using Windows 7, and dragon 14.000.000.180.

Any ideas as to how to fix this?

Cannot dictate into Microsoft Word (13 Comments)

I am using DNS 11.5 premium.  Recently, I am unable to dictate into Word 2010.  Operating System is Windows 7, 64 bit.  I can create a document in Dragonpad.  However, in Word, DNS does not respond to any dictation.  I have confirmed that the NatSpeaking Addin is enabled in Word.  Appreciate any help.  Thanks.

I get this message with NaturallySpeaking v14 running on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1, 32-bit.  DEP is turned off (except for essential windows services).

The same package has been installed for another user and works without a problem.  On the machine where Dragon crashes, the software has been uninstalled and re-installed several times, with ccleaner and manual cleanup in between (to remove remnants in registry and programdata).

DNS 13 (Professional) Recently Started Freezing with Weird "Rehabilitation Trick"

After I recently installed a new USB hub and a set of Logitech Speakers, DNS 13 (Professional) started intermittently freezing (it just stops returning a dictated response… Sometimes it comes back after a really long while, but often times it does not). I can also sometimes rehabilitate the freeze by either closing Dragon Pad or changing the Dictation Source, but, about one time out of four, this trick results in the entire program simply crashing entirely. I am on Windows 7 and using a "Blue Snowball" USB microphone (which used to work absolutely perfectly). Please help! Thanks! :-)

Dragon 13 Pro and Windows 10 Cortana process

We are using DNS 13.0 pro on Windows 10 Enterprise and IE11. DNS is working fine in Outlook and Word and most IE pages. We have Cortana disabled by policy.

We have an issue with some of our users in which a process that is not cortana but is a searchui.exe process that is related to cortana seems to cause Dragon to stop working for a period of time. If the process is ended four or five times, Dragon starts responding and processes the queued up utterances.

Any thoughts?

Start in "Command Only" Recognition mode

According to this < http://nuance.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16647/kw/mode > I should be able to add a setting in the options.ini file so that my profile starts up in a specific recognition mode (like commands mode). I've tried many ways of changing that setting, but I can't seem to get it to work:

Initial Recognition Mode=2

Initial Recognition Mode=Commands

Initial Recognition Mode=Commands Mode

etc.

This seems to be a bug (since Nuance says it is possible) yet, when I submitted a bug report I got this response:

"We apologize for the inconvenience but unfortunately there's no feature for it on Dragon Naturally Speaking. Please submit a feature request on the website below."

So, now this is a Feature Request.  I know for a fact others want this feature, too (seehttp://stackoverflow.com/questions/35218871/change-default-recognition-mode-in-dragon-naturallyspeaking/36610304#36610304 )

(I'm on Win 8.1 and using DNS13Pro).

I search on Nuance site and  I didn´t find a contact link where l could  post it.

So, sorry if it is the wrong place.

I need a TTS Portuguese-Brazil male voice  to install in Windows 8.1.

I am playing with TTS and Delphi programmimg Language.

I use the next code to play the voice (TTS): code in Delphi

Dragon 13 Home - Excel is working

I have read several old posts here that says that Dragon 13 Home gives an error msg when trying to work within Excel. I have found a workaround. Be sure that you have the Dragon addin installed. When you get the error msg, open Excel...Options...Add Ins...then click ok on the Dragon Add In. (I have to do that everytime but at least it works now.

Hopefully a future update will not require that each time but am so glad that it is working for me.

Correction window should not disappear after "Play that back" (1 Comment)

The correction window disappears every time I say "play that back". So, after I have heard what I said and know what would be the correct recognition, the window is gone and I need to to reselect the text I wanted to correct.

I would say that this workflow can be improved in terms of usability. Why don't you keep the correction window open after "play that back"?

I have been thinking about buying a Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12 Premium Mobile -  
advertised as "Dictate anywhere with Philips Digital Voice Recorder".

What I want to know before ordering is more about the "Philips 
Digital Voice Recorder" which is supplied with this product - its number, name etc.

I can't find any specific information about this recorder on the various Dragon NaturallySpeaking / Nuance webpages.

My first email to Nuance got no response, and a later email enquiry came back with this:
"Unfortunately, we are unable to assist you with this product inquiry at the online store."

Does anyone know what Philips recorder they supply, or even better still, actually got one of these Philips recorders? How good are they?

Dragon Professional stopped launching

My Dragon Professional 14 stopped launching. 

When I reboot my PC ( Windows 10) it will present me with the user profile. I select this and nothing happens. when I try again, i dont even get offered the profile - it just closes down immediately. 

 

Please help as I rely on the product daily...

Can't dictate in Outlook 2016 New Message form

I'm running Outlook/Office 2016 on a Windows 10 computer. Using DNS Premium 13 when I attempt to dictate in the New Message window I get a message stating that the Dragon add-in for MS Outlook is not loaded and the dictation box opens.

How do I fix this?

Hi,

I just installed Dragon Naturally Speaking Home. It  was able to calibrate my voice when I read the paragraph and it stated "complete" however once I got to the part in the tutorial asking me to state "microphone off" it stated that it could't recongnise what I was saying- at this time I was using the headset provided. I decided after much time trying to turn the microphone off, verbally, to move on to the other sections however they also did not work. I tried unplugging the microphone and using my laptops inbuilt microphone, altering the distance of the microphone from my lips, turning up the volume, recalibrating my voice, using the dictation pad, uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing has worked and it is still not dictating a word. When I talk I can see the green lights next to the microphone icon light up and the green flame appear but it still does nothing. Does anyone know what the problem is? Its driving me mad.

Just upgraded to windows 10 and even though have run audio setup successfully it picks up (usb) mic ok but when I try to turn on mic for dictation I get "audio input device not responding"

Check everything but now run out of ideas- can anyone help...........
