I need to disable the 'Send Mail' command in Outlook. How can this be done?
I work with a gentleman named Sunil. About 30-40% of the time, the system recognizes his name as 'Send Mail' and sends the message I am working on.
I've triedthe following already:
- Added 'Sunil' to the dictionary and trained it to improve recognition.
- Tried changing the training on 'Send Mail' command to be more distinct/different sounding.
- Tried adding my own 'Send Mail' command in the command editor, and made it do nothing.
- Tried adding the word 'Send Mail' to the dictionary as a phrase for dictation. Interestingly, about half the time Dragon recognizes 'Send Mail' as a phrase instead of a command. This does not appear to be related to the amount of time I pause before saying it or my pronunciation.
The manual specifically says, in bright red, that it wants you to use the word 'Click' ahead of these kinds of commands to avoid mishaps with sending emails. It seems like this was forgotten by including this command:
By default, Dragon 12 requires the word ‘click’ just before the name of menus as well as the name of
buttons and other controls: for instance, for a button labeled “OK”, you would say click OK. This can be
useful to prevent unintended actions such as voice-clicking Send in an email. Dragon offers a similar
“Require ‘Click’” option for HTML links. See the Commands tab of the Options dialog.
I understand that it is best practice to not enter the To: for an email until the last minute. However, many times emails I compose are replies or 'Reply All' and it is silly to expect people to clear out the To: and CC: fields and then re-add those names later on. I send dozens of replies a day.
In the meantime, I have added a rule to Outlook to hold messages in the outbox for one minute before sending. This is not ideal but it at least catches the 3 to 5 messages a day that I would have accidentally sent otherwise.
I also try to remember to hold 'shift' before saying "Sunil", however this seems to take some training. Perhaps after a while I will get a better hang of it.
I've seen some documentation that suggests that it's not possible to disable or alter these kinds of commands, however hearing this strains credulity. I cannot believe that on version 12.5 of this software that this capability is not yet been introduced. Is that truly the case?
Surely the community or technical support group must have some kind of workaround documented to disable Send Mail commands within Outlook?
