Cannot activate microphone for a profile (1 Comment)

Hi

 

A client of mine has your software and had recently upgraded the firmware on a USB microphone and now he can't use it with the usual profile he uses. I don't seem to be able to do anything to change it or fix it, the names appear to be the same but the microphone button never goes clickable.

 

How can I correct this for him? It appears the program doesn't allow you to set microphones which seems like a massive limitation for a program designed to be used with microphones...

I have Dragon NaturallySpeaking Premium 13 installed on Windows 8.1. When DragonBar is open and I go to a website in Firefox that runs the Adobe Flash plugin (e.g. YouTube), the plugin crashes and I get an error message. If I close DragonBar and reload the website, Adobe Flash works. This is the case whether or not the Dragon NaturallySpeaking plugin and/or Firefox add-on are enabled or disabled (i.e. it is independent of these).

This problem is occuring in a Firefox 32.0.1 browser without any additional addons installed. The latest Shockwave Flash plugin is installed 15.0 r0 (15.0.0.152).

Anyone else having this problem? I am presently living with it by closing DragonBar whenever I need to use Flash - annoying.

Getting English UK profile to spell in English US - is this possible?

Hi,

I am still using DNS 11.5 premium. I setup a profile in UK English back in 2012 so that it recognises a UK English accent and dictates with UK English spelling. I work as a translator and a client has asked me to produce a translation with US English spelling (so things like "enrollment" instead of "enrolment", etc.).

Is there a way I can get my existing UK English profile to produce US spelling when dictating? Alternatively, is there a clever way of exporting and re-importing my UK profile and changing it to produce US spelling? I could create a completely new US English profile but I would have to retrain it from scratch to recognise my voice well. I have been using/training my UK English profile over the last 4+ years and it works very well, so don't want to start again from scratch. Is there a way of importing my UK English training files into a new US English profile, for example?

Hope that makes sense; thanks in advance for any help.

Dragon 15 appears to be switching modes???

Good morning all!  I am a court reporter, so I use 15 in conjunction with my reporting software.  I just recently upgraded to 15.  I make certain I am in dictation mode.  All will be going fine, and then for no apparent reason, it's like it switches to a "literally what I am saying" mode.  For instance:  As a reporter, I have "marker words -- qmac for a Q, amac for an A, peerk for a period at the end of the sentence.  So all will be going fine, and then bam.....dragon is dropping exactly what I say.  Example if I say "qmac bring me that book peerk" that is what it types instead of Q Bring me that book.   I hope that makes sense.  I have double checked.  It's still in dictation mode.  It doesn't do it all the time.  And from what I can tell, it only does it if I'm not connected to the internet.  (Why that would matter.....I have no idea!)  I can only reproduce the issue when I'm at home if I disconnect from the internet.    Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.  If I can't get it fixed, going to have to scrap it and go back to 13 :(

Old computer dying and want to transfer my DNS Premium (from 2014) to new computer

I have searched and read numerous threads with no ultimate solution.   I purchased DragonNS Premium for Windows in  August 2014 and my Asus needed replacing so I just got the new one today.  Wanting to transfer my Dragon Software but can't seem to find an ultimate solution.  I found one thread that said to uninstall from old computer while connected to the internet (did that) and that i could then reactivate it on a new computer.  Not sure how this is done since I downloaded it from the Nuance website in 2014, have not hard copy or saved copy.  Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I needed to uninstall DNS because it wasnt working after not using it for about 6 months, but when I went back to the download link it does not work. I got an error message to email customer services which I did just yesterday morning, no response yet... any ideas?

Dictating Double Letters (8 Comments)

Over the past couple of months,  a few of my clients have started having trouble with Dragon Version 2.0

(12.53.350.033)

--  It's repeating letters or periods.  

For example, if I dictate "mask," it will type mmask, or if I dictate, "he came home." it will type "home.." with 2 periods at the end of the word. 

 

Talked with Dragon support multiple times and they have been little help. I understand that Dragon was not built to integrate with the EMR i use, PRACTICE FUSION, however every other version of dragon works without any problem. so it must be related to Dragon 2.0.

 

Here are a few steps i have taken, below

-          Switched browsers. still double letters.  

-          Switched computers to see if it was a computer problem. problem still occurs. 

-          Reverted to an older version of windows. didn't fix anything.

-         Rolled back the Dragon user profile settings a couple months. nothing.

-          Restored User Profiles. Nothing.

-         Changed the accuracy of the microphone to Most accurate. nothing. 

-         Changed the USB microphone settings that come nativily with Windows. no fix

 

I have seen that people have had similar issues in the past. However mine is more specific with the troubleshooting steps already taken. 


Can anyone help? Do you have this issue as well?

Can I transcribe audio files?

Looking through the knowledgebase, the answer to this used to be "no" because you wouldn't be able to do training for the different voices in the audio files. New versions of the software are supposed to be very accurate without training so I think it makes sense to ask this again. I read about the recorder edition which is "optimized to be used with a digital recorder".

1) So, using the recorder edition, I would be able to transcribe, with fairly high accuracy, several .wav or .mp3 files (or other formats) recorded with a digital recorder?

2) Can I queue up several files for the software to work on, leave, come back later and they would be finished? I would then edit them.

3) Will the recorder edition automatically insert time stamps and let me save it as an .srt file or do I need a different version for that? Thanks.

I am having an issue when I'm trying to install DNS Premium Wireless 12 on a Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.  After starting setup.exe (as an admin) I am after seeing a message that the software was preparing to install, after that a window pops up with the following message:

etc, etc etc. Again,  I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit . I tried running scans, nothing is damaged or infected. I disabled DEP for the exe files on the disc.  I unregistered and reregistered. Everything the Microsoft forums suggest. I even got a new machine. I am able to install on my 2 older laptops at home but This is a new machine and I tried it right out of the box.  Any ideas?

I use Naturally Speaking all the time. It's excellent as a speech recognition product. It's so good I like to leave the microphone on as much as possible, so it is always ready to go (like a keyboard). But I find that the microphone is too sensitive to background noise and my own coughs, snuffles and sneezes etc.

I would like to have a control that would allow me to manage the level of background noise filtering. This would allow me to reduce the number of spurious command actions and text entry where I don't want it. It would also significantly reduce the number of times I have to turn the microphone on and off using the shortcut I have defined. There is a small but significant delay each time the shortcut is used, especially when turning the microphone on.

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

Dragon 13 Notification Microphone Tray Icon - Colourblind challenge (4 Comments)

Although not totally colourblind I am colourblind deficient in the green, red and brown (even a little blue) colour spectrum and I really cannot tell from the new style tray icon whether the microphone is on or off. I know that I can switch from the new style DragonBar to the old-style DragonBarWhen if prepared to have the bar on my desktop but when if I prefer (as I do) to have only the tray icon there is no choice but to accept the new style microphone tray icon.I communicated with the technical help service of Nuance and my experience was not a pleasant one. What is the point of having such a service if it is staffed by inadequately  trained people.I was basically told "bad luck to you"! Does anyone know a registry tweak or something which will give me the old microphone icon in the notification tray. Goodness knows why the decision was made to change it. It was already perfectly appropriate and very clear. If upright the microphone was on and if on its side the microphone was off. What is wrong with that?

Can I Use to Transcribe MP3 File to Word (Dragon Pro Individual?) (1 Comment)

I am considering purchasing Dragon, possibly Professional Individual.

My most common use would be to play a MP3 file with only a talk, no music, etc., and transcribe the spoken word to a Microsoft Word document. Obviously there would be no formatting, just continuous text. I will format the document in a separate step.

Is this possible or practical?

Which is the current version for Professional Individual and Premium Mobile: 13 or 14.

Also, there is an interesting combination of products on QVC that is primarily Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium Mobile 13. Is that the same as Premium Individual plus additional features?

Is there a download for a trial for how many days? Can that be converted to the production version either by adding a serial number or just installing the production copy over the trial? Will that install keep any settings I setup during the trial?

Wrong language displayed by DNS 14

Hello,

while testing DNS14 profiles on my machine I notice that the pop-ups from DNS are in the language of the first profile. is there a way to change that, or is it a bug?

 

ex.: Set an English profile... closed the profile.

       Set a French profile. While using it, DNS will pop up "Please say that again" instead of the French "Veuillez répéter".

Upgraded from 12.5 to 13 on Friday, and now everytime I click on Outlook to do any task, I get an error message :

Sorry, were having trouble starting Outlook. Only one version of Outlook can run at a time. Check to see if another version of Outlook is running, or try restarting your computer.

I did a repair install and this did not work.

Is there a fix to this, I cant do anything with Outlook while Dragon 13 is running, and this message pops up constantly.

WordPerfect plug in has developed a glitch (1 Comment)

I have been using WordPerfect X7 with Dragon 13 very successfully for about seven or eight months. It has worked perfectly. I am the world's worst typist and this combination has been absolutely magic for me.

Unfortunately in the last week or so the WordPerfect plug-in seems to have developed a glitch. After dictating a phrase the cursor moves backward so it rests just before the last character in the phrase; when the next phrase is dictated that previous last character is moved forward to the end of the second phrase. This is very frustrating. This phenomenon does not happen with any program other than WordPerfect, indeed I am dictating this post with Dragon 13 in the Dictation Box and it has not made a single mistake.

How do I reset the WordPerfect plug-in for Dragon 13 or how can I download the plug-in again, or how do I get round this problem?

For those of us who are signed up to the Windows 10 upgrade on or shortly after 29 July 2015 can we be re-assured that there will be no compatibility issues with Dragon (13 Premium in my case). I've posted separately because we now have a firm date for the Windows upgrade and if the current compatibility issues remain (see other posts) then I will cancel the Windows upgrade as I am in the middle of a book and do not want to spend hours fiddling around with Dragon and Windows.  So it would be really useful if someone from Nuance could post.

Plugin will not install in 64bit Firefox?

hello I cannot seem to get the plug-in to install when I have upgraded from 32-bit Firefox to 64-bit Firefox, the extension installs fine and says installed, but when I check the actual plug-in, it does not show up in the installed list despite saying it installed.   Is this a known issue or is there a workaround or a different file for installing?

Dragon Naturally Speaking Legal Edition performance issues in Citrix XenApp

Hello.

We're running DNS Legal Edition in Citrix XenApp, which is officially supported, but we're running into some performance issues.  User sessions will sometimes hang, only releasing when we end the DNS processes. Is anyone else running DNS LE in Citrix?  If so, have you experienced any performance issues?

1. Dragon 15 is less accurate than Dragon 12.5 - so how do we improve accuracy with Dragon dictate 15? How do we teach Dragon to be more accurate? It seems that the training feature has disappeared – we can no longer read text to train Dragon.

Please provide advice for how to train Dragon to improve the accuracy

(we have set the speed/accuracy setting much closer to the accuracy side)

2. Dragon 15 appears to be much slower than Dragon 12.5 – it will routinely stop processing when dictating inside Microsoft Outlook 2010 and pause randomly for at least 10 to 15 seconds before continuing, which is very annoying.

We are using an i7 Processor, 32 GB of RAM, and a solid state drive.
