Microsoft OneNote, Firefox and DragonPad (10 Comments)

Topic by John Hendershot

Using DNS 12, I notice several applications now REQUIRE the use of DragonPad - the two most annoying for me are Microsoft OneNote and Firefox.  For example, I'm typing this by hand because DNS won't let me dictate into this box.  A nuisance in Firefox - c'mon fellows, it's simple text - but a a real bummer in OneNote.  Why?  DragonPad has this tiny little dictation box - OneNote actually allows you to use the full screen reel estate.  I'm OK with using OneNote directly for all the graphic stuff - but try doing a two page outline in DragonPad (something I do a lot of in OneNote).

Is there a way to turn off the DragonPad?  Or is this mandatory use a "feature?"

Support for SimpleMind mind mapping software (very active dev)

Hello! This is my first time here in the forums.

I originally purchased Dragon Naturally Speaking in the hopes that it would allow me to dictate into the mind mapping software that I use on my computer. I figured that dictation would allow my thoughts flow into the mind map more easily. However I can't even get the dictation box to work with the app, much less the standard dictation features.

I've asked the dev of SimpleMind who updates the program regularly if he could do anything about adding support and he suggested I contact Nuance.

He was very quick to respond and seems eager to make it as easy as possible. He told me to feel free to contact him or have Nuance contact him if he needs to do anything special.

His email is gerrit@simpleapps.eu

Thanks for your time!

Selecting the word "that"

This might be a silly question, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

If I have to select the actual word "that," I can't say "select that." Is there some other way to properly select it? I realize this is an issue with most commands ("delete that" etc). I just started using this program and this was one of the first things I noticed.

Thank you in advance!

Trouble differentiating dictation from formatting commands

Topic by Walter Eldredge

I'm having trouble differentiating formatting commands from dictation. For example the command "format that plane" gets those words instead of removing formatting from selected text. Some commands work most of the time such as "cap that or "bold that" but almost none of them work as direct text commands such as "cap [phrase from text]." This is happening with Draagon 13 in Microsoft Word and in DragonPad. Is there a way to force Dragon to interpret a command as formatting instead of dictation? I have tried holding down control and that does not seem to have any effect.

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if Dragon Naturally Speaking Pro license version can be installed via a software distribution package? Also can we use the same key code for all installs?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dragon professional individual, not playing nicely (6 Comments)

Topic by John Brown

Hi there,

Dragon professional individual, not playing nicely.  I have found two big problems and need some advice.

1. Vocabulary - import list of words or phrases and Vocabulary - Learn from sent emails is not working. No window or any instructions open up.

2. Dragon NaturallySpeaking Preferred version 13 allowed me to dictate into InDesign.

I have been using Dragon NaturallySpeaking Preferred 13 with InDesign CC 2015, without any problems until  I upgraded to Dragon professional individual.  Since then Dragon will dictate into the text boxes within InDesign, but the text does appear in the text box until I have pressed the following windows keys. "CTRL" + "ALT" + "Delete" keys.  When I click on the cancel button on the screen and the screen reverts to InDesign the text has dropped into the text boxes.

Does anybody have any thoughts as to why all of a sudden this problem has occurred and how to fix it.

Thanks very much for any advice and guidance.

Kind regards

John

dictation box pops up if I type the letter d (2 Comments)

If I type the letter "d" in Microsoft Word or anywhere else the dictation box pops up, even if the microphone is turned off.  I am using Version 13 Premium.  I tried to turn off the dictation box completely (using the instructions in Help and in the User Guide), but that does not work.

I have tried everything I can think of (User Guide; Help; Knowledge base, etc.).

How can I get rid of this problem ?   Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Update.  The default hot key for the dictation box was Control+Shift+D.  I changed that to Control+Alt+backspace and at first that did not help.  However, after I had exited Dragon for a while and then reactivated it, the problem had been solved.    I still have no idea why the mere typing of the letter d activated the dictation box (since the shortcut was supposed to require 3 keys).

Single core processor alert disable

When I open Dragon I get three alerts, all stating that I have a single core processor, my user profile is meant for a multiple core processor, and this may affect my accuracy.  However, Dragon works perfectly fine for me on my machine.  I would like to disable this alert.  Does anyone know how?

I am getting the above captioned error message when I try to open the one profile I have created in Dragon. The user is an admin on my Windows 7 and there are no other applications active.

I must say that, so far, this is the most user unfriendly program I have used in years.

Help!

Hello all,

Just a quick question, does Dragon have a "Start Typing" function like the one on Windows Recognition?

The "Start Typing" function allows for easy key inputs.

Thank you very much for any help provided. And much love to both the development team and the help team.

Hot Key Error launches Dragon Pad (1 Comment)

I cannot figure out why every time I turn on Dragon Naturally Speaking my "d" key fails to type "d" and instead launches a Dragon Pad. My hot hey is set to "ctrl+d" not just "d". And it does not matter what program I am using... Word, Chrome, just Windows.

This is driving me crazy because the program is pretty much worthless now that I have to close it every time I actually want to type something. BTW, I can type a capital D by holding down Shift+d. I just can't type a lower case d. And I have reset the Dragon hot keys to default.

Thanks for the help!

Hi,

I've tried to install this software several time and at the conclusion of the install (which takes 30m each time due to the downloading) gives the message: "Error 1920.Service Dragon Logger Service (DragonLoggerService) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

I have previously installed Dragon Naturally Speaking 12 & 13 on this machine without problems and have full administrator rights on the machine.

Thanks in advance...

Differences between different editions? (2 Comments)

Hi!

I'd like to use DNS in a research project to do some voice commands. I saw there was 3 different editions but can't find the differences between the 3, except that the professional version have a multi-license option. Can somebody help me to find and understand the specificities of each edition?

Also, I saw there was a SDK available, but can't find any information beyond specifications. Is the SDK bundled with a specific edition?

Thanks in advance for helping me :)

Time lag swapping between documents - Dragon Professional 14 (10 Comments)

I have just upgraded to the new version 14 of Dragon Professional - Individual.  I have noticed a significant time-lag (anywhere between 5 - 40 seconds) when I swap from one document in which I am dicatating to another.  This occurs regardless of whether the hot key is on / off / asleep.

I have turned program off, and computer off but it keeps happening.

It was getting to the stage where it was easier to just turn off Dragon - so thought I would see what other have to say.

Thank you!
